The Power of a National Network
Our connection to the national RDA network provides us with a unique advantage. It allows us to
Access a Wealth of Knowledge and Expertise
We can tap into the collective wisdom of over 500 RDA committee members across the country, learning from their successes and adapting their innovative solutions to our own regional context.

How the Network Operates
The RDA network is a true partnership between all levels of government. It is funded by the Australian Government and, in some jurisdictions, by state, territory, and local governments. The program is administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, which provides a framework for collaboration and ensures that the network is aligned with national priorities.
Each RDA committee is made up of local leaders who have a deep understanding of their region’s unique challenges and opportunities. They are appointed by the Minister for Regional Development and are responsible for:
Developing a Regional Plan
Each RDA develops a strategic regional plan that identifies the key priorities for their region and outlines a roadmap for achieving them.
Engaging with Stakeholders
RDAs work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including local businesses, community groups, and all three levels of government, to ensure that their regional plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.
Facilitating Investment and Development
RDAs play a key role in attracting investment to their region, supporting the growth of local businesses, and facilitating the development of critical infrastructure.
Queensland Collaboration
RDAMBSC works closely with counterparts across Queensland, led by RDA Brisbane. We meet throughout the year with State Ministers and through the SEQ Alliance to advocate for regional priorities, ensuring Queensland regions have a strong collective voice in state and national decision-making.
A Shared Vision for Regional Australia
By working together, the RDA network is helping to create a future where
First Nations people have every opportunity to engage in and shape their regions.
People, businesses, and investments thrive.
Regional Australia is recognised as a key driver of the national economy.
As a member of this national network, RDASMBSC is proud to be playing its part in building a stronger, more prosperous future for our region and for all of Australia.
